Resumo

With the evolution of traditional risk management (TRM) for a holistic view, according to international studies, the simple adoption of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), under strategic view, increases the firm value. On that basis, this research has investigated empirically the association between ERM adoption and firm performance (measured by Tobin's q ratio) in 80 Brazilian companies (673 companies-year) listed in the IBrX100 index from Brazilian Stock Exchange, over the period 2004-2013. After the introduction of controls to exogenous effects on the dependent variable, the results indicate to the existence of a positive association between ERM adoption and firm performance, consistent with most international researches.
